Christmas is upon us already and I wanted to take this time to wish you all The Merriest of Christmas's and the Happiest of New Year's.

We have a new member of our extended family celebrating her very first Christmas. Say hello to Cadence George, Alan's great-granddaughter. She's just not sure what all the excitement is about.
I have been very busy working with my new forum page, muttering words at my computer and Alan has been known to mutter a word or two at his computer also.
I have become the "Mistress of Messed-up Code" and plan on adding that title to the list of awards I have earned. I entered and sent more things that were wrong in one week, than I have in months.
Again,
and a Happy
New YearNovember 28, 2006
Did y'all have a good Thanksgiving? We had a wonderful time. We celebrated the 15th anniversary of our first big date by going to St. Augustine for a visit.

The weather was quite interesting, down right cold when we got there, with the wind just whipping around. We decided to head for the outlet mall and spend a few coins on some "stuff". Thursday, Thanksgiving Day was a little better, but not by much. We watched some of the Parade and went out for a nice buffet dinner. After that it was back to the warm room and some intense napping.

Friday was finally looking good. We jumped out of bed raring to go, headed downstairs for the courtesy breakfast and some more information. We found that the shuttle would come pick us up with a phone call and take us to the main trolley stop. The day was looking even better. We ran back upstairs for the camera and down again to the lobby just as the shuttle pulled up to the door.

I just want to say that the Green and Orange trolley service was wonderful. The people were so nice and helpful. This trolley has 20 stops, all of them right where you might want to go, including the ability to get on the beach bus for a trip to the Alligator Farm or the Lighthouse. For $20.00 you get a three day pass with as many on and offs as you want. The wind was still whipping pretty briskly and we decided the beach was not for us, but we did ride the bus out there and back just because we could.
We did a lot of wandering up and down streets, just being tourists. We saw lots of places to eat and things to do, but even with four days there wasn't enough time. I did finally get to eat at the Columbia, a restaurant that originated in Ybor City, down Tampa way. Great Cuban food and the bread is to die for.

I finally went to Potter's Wax Museum, but was not too impressed with their workmanship. They only had one or two pieces that looked realistic and they were right in the beginning. I don't think I would want to go back again.

The Main Plaza is all decorated for the holidays. They run a Holly Jolly Trolley in the evenings that takes you all around the town looking at all the decorations. Best part is when they go out over the bridge and turn around to come back into the city. Absolutely beautiful.

Oh yeah! I drank from the Fountain of Youth. Didn't work, still got wrinkles.

I am still making small changes to the site. I fixed the link to the store and maybe I won't break it again. Now you can go there and take a good look at what's in there.

The forum is taking off, LOL. We are up to 18 members, but at least most of them are talking. Why don't you come by and talk with us?
Surely there is a category that you will find interesting. Food? Football? Racing? Want to talk about something else? Tell me about what you would like and we will set you up with your own space to say what's on your mind.
On another note, I ordered some stuff from the store and the people doing the imprinting are doing a great job. I found it to be really good quality. Check it out.

I have been working hard setting up the new forum section. Some of the changes that I have made here is to move the forum button. Now all you have to do is click on the picture of the LaundryLady and it will take you right to the forum. Hope to see you there.

THE LAUNDRY ROOM IS OPEN

I did a massive upgrade on the forum and it now is more like ones that are found around the web. Categories and rooms are still being worked on as I am not totally happy with it, but at least it is up. Registration to post is mandatory, so get inventive, come up with a user name that reflects who you are and log in. Ultimately I am gonna tie in the colors with the rest of the web pages, hopefully today.
Sign up and see what's going on, add your 3 cents (inflation), and possibly meet some people.
See the post above for the link to the forum.

Well, we got busy around the house and only remembered about the Citra fair after it was too late to go. Seems to be how things go lately. I have been piddling around on this site and other places. One of the things I have set up is a new on-line store. Scattered around the site you will see the words: CafePress and get unique gifts here. Follow the click-through and check out my merchandise. These items feature my own images and are not available anywhere else.
The last page on my site is a survey page. It's new and I would appreciate it if you would take the survey and let me know what you think.

Brrrr!! It sure got chilly overnight. It was in the 90's day before yesterday and 36 this morning at 6 AM. We had been asking for a break in the humidity and got it with a vengeance. It has been nice and cool all day today, more like a normal fall.
It's time for the Fall Festivals here in Florida. We managed to miss the McIntosh Old Fashioned pocket picking this past weekend but are going to go to Citra's Orange-a-Fair this Saturday. This one is to benefit their museum of local history and I can't think of a worthier cause.
These small towns in Florida are rapidly disappearing along with their way of life and I think that some of it needs to be preserved.

Soon it will be time for trick or treating. Get out your carving tools and get creative. Scare the neighbors kids(think of it as payback time) .

I am still in the process of getting everything put back in place. I hope you like the new look and if you have any suggestions, please let me know. Uh, hmmm, I meant suggestions for improving the site.

BACK IN BUSINESS

I am finally back up and running. I got ahead of myself and messed up the page and could not get in to edit it. Now that the links are all connected again, the site should be brought up to date shortly.
Oh yeah, my old workhorse computer finally bit the dust. Gee, that might have had something to do with the slowness of getting this back together along with the sometimes iffy wi-fi connections. I hate to spend an hour on something, get in the middle of an upload and have everything crash. So here we are, back together again. I missed you, I hope you missed me.

While we were waaay up north in Indiana this summer, we drove over to Chicago and spent a weekend with my friend Becky and her hubby Scott. Since I had never been there before, I was really excited about the visit and wasn't disappointed.
Scott drove us all to the downtown area and parked the car, while we stood on the corner and admired the buildings. We were on an adventure to the city center and catching a cab was the thing to do. The cabbie dropped us at the square and we negotiated for a carriage ride. Trust me, this was the best way to see the area. Easy on the feet and slow enough to see everything.
Becky and Scott enjoying the ride

The only building to survive the Great Chicago Fire, the Water Tower

Redneck Yacht Club on the Lake
My problem was i was trying to see everything and take pictures at the same time. I need to go back again just to see all the stuff we drove past and didn't have time to stop and admire.

We have been here since the 14th and have been having a pretty good time. This weekend was Alan’s 50th reunion and it was a busy one. We have had some kind of activity almost everyday.
Thursday, Lowell Davis, one of Alan’s classmates dropped by the rig to let us know he was in the campground and the guys visited for several hours. Friday evening, we went with a select group (Carolyn and Max Schaeffer, Lowell and Barbara Davis, Jack and Marilyn Soper) to decorate the tables at the banquet room and set up the tables at the American Legion for after the banquet. We followed this up with a trip to the local saloon for drinks and sandwiches. Saturday afternoon was devoted to visiting with snacks and drinks, after which we toddled off to change for dinner.
After getting all gussied up, it was off to the middle school for the banquet. The earliest class member there was from the Class of 1927 with honored classes at 5 year intervals, through 2006. The Class of 1956 was THE honored class this year and 16 members were able to attend. Classmates that were unable to be there were spoken of fondly.
The Reunion Pictures
We also were determined to visit with Alan’s Aunt Joyce. She has been in a nursing home recuperating from a broken hip. That is the hardest woman to catch up with! When we got to the nursing home, she was waiting for lunch, so we promised to come back.
Well, wouldn’t you know, when we got there she had taken off with her youngest son. We decided to do what you do in a small town which is cruise around. As we passed Cousin Ted’s house, who do we see but Aunt Joyce in her wheel chair sitting in the yard, so we stopped to say hello. After a very short visit, we said we would see her on the following day. We walk into the banquet room for the reunion and there she was, attending the alumni dinner as a member of the class of 1936. We did stop by this morning and finally got our visit done.
Tomorrow morning we are off to Farmland, IN and probably will not be on the air for at least a week. I am looking forward to landing in Goshen and having a wi-fi connection to put up an album of reunion pictures and being able to chat with all my friends. Ya’ll take care now
